August 21, 2026Niagara College’s award-winning Event Management program is returning this fall with a modern makeover, including flexible delivery options, more hands-on learning and an updated curriculum built around the needs of today’s events industry.
The one-year graduate certificate is based at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake, in the heart of one of Canada’s leading hospitality, tourism and events regions, giving students direct access to world-class venues, festivals and tourism operators.
Built around industry trends
The program was redesigned from the ground up to cover attendee-experience design, modern event technology, risk management and sustainability. Courses are offered on campus, in hybrid format and in flexible formats to suit different learning styles and schedules.
“The events industry has undergone a massive transformation, requiring professionals who are creative, adaptable, technologically savvy and skilled at creating memorable experiences,” said Caroline Chabert Delio, Associate Dean of the School of Hospitality and Tourism.
Live events in every term
Instead of saving practical work for a final project, students plan, budget, market and deliver live event projects throughout the program. They also complete industry placements, from festivals and corporate conferences to fundraisers and sporting events, and finish with a capstone experience in the hospitality and tourism sectors.
Graduates move into roles such as event manager, marketing event coordinator, venue manager, wedding planner, project manager, brand activation specialist and corporate sales manager.
Alumni making their mark
Program alumni work across Ontario’s tourism and hospitality sectors. “Graduating from Niagara College’s Event Management program was one of the most important milestones in my career,” said Eric McLoughlin, Tourism Product Development Specialist in Sport Tourism for Tourism Hamilton. “The faculty challenged us, supported us and ensured we graduated with practical skills and experience that translated directly into the workforce.”
